Different Types Of Dog Beds
There are actually many different types of dog beds out there on the market. If you haven’t bought a dog bed for a while you are in for a surprise. Not only has the quality gone up, but so has the comfort and design.
Gone are the days when you were just basically buying a lump of pillow. With so many types of dog beds out there I am going to show you how to narrow down your choices by going over different types of dog beds.
TYPES OF DOG BEDS
Bolster Dog Beds: Bolster dog beds are great for all dog breeds, but especially good for large dogs. Bolster dog beds simply have an armrest or pillow going around three sides of the bed, similar to a couch appearance. The bolster offers a good place for dogs to rest their heads and to give more support to the bed.
Nesting Dog Beds: Nesting dog beds are similar to the bolster dog beds but have thinner sides and a deeper pocket to lay in. Nesting dog beds are great for litters of puppies or for expectant mothers.
Orthopedic Dog Beds: Orthopedic dog beds are made from memory foam or orthopedic foam. Usually they are at least three inches thick and are designed for older dogs or dogs with arthritis.
Travel Beds: Travel dog beds are great and convenient to take with you because they are smaller and slimmer than traditional dog beds. They are also great to place in back of cars and SUVs. It is not a good idea to use a travel dog bed as your pet’s permanent bed because they generally don’t hold up over the long haul.
Mats and Pads: These are generally cheaper versions of dog beds, but can offer similar comfort levels in certain cases. If you are going to place your dog bed outside it is best to go with a cheaper mat or pad that can be replaced more frequently.
Classic Dog Beds: The classic dog bed has changed a lot over the years, now most of them are made of higher quality materials and last a lot longer.
