While this can be a good place for your dog to rest its head, for larger dogs it is often best just to have a flat area where they can stretch out in any direction.
Most large breeds of dogs are also prone to arthritis. So having supplemental heat in the dog bed can be a great addition. Most dog beds now come with a heating option.
If they don’t you can actually buy a heating pad to place under the dog bed to keep them warm.
One last thing is to make sure you buy a square or rectangular dog bed so you easily fit the bed into a corner. Round dog beds stick out and almost always seem to be out of place which is why a large square dog bed would be best.
