How Thick Should A Dog Bed Be
Some people email me and ask what do I recommend for thickness of dog beds. How thick a dog beds needs to be to prevent it from bottoming out depends on several factors.
In general the thicker the dog bed the better, and I generally say at least three inches. But this all depends on the quality and density of material. Cheap foam compresses easily and even if you had 6 inches, it still would bottom out.
If you are looking for a quality dog bed, look for ones that advertise medical grade orthopedic foam, or memory foam. These are higher density foams and therefore you needs less of it in the bed.
Also the weight of your dog is a big factor in the equation as well. If you have a great dane, obviously you needs a much denser and thicker foam than if you had a 6 pound Chihuahua.
Always to for a thicker dog bed with higher quality of materials. At a minimum get on that is at least 3 inches thick.
